On April 8th 2013, at the Hall II, Can Tho University (CTU) solemnly held the signing ceremony of Renewal MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Aarhus University (Denmark). The ceremony was honored to receive the representatives from Aarhus University, including Mr. Thomas Nielsen, International Advisor of Research, Talent and Internationalization, Science and Technology; Assoc. Prof. Mark Bayley, Head of International Committee, Faculty of Science and Technology; and Prof. Tobias Wang, Department of Bioscience – Zoophysiology.
Participants at the ceremony from CTU consisted of CTU Rectorate members, leaders and staff of Department of International Relations, Department of Scientific Affairs, Department of Planning, Department of Finance, College of Agriculture and Applied Biology, College of Environment and Natural Resources, College of Aquaculture and Fisheries, College of Natural Sciences and School of Graduate.

Under the good partnerships of the two governments, Vietnam and Denmark, in the past thirteen years, CTU has been greatly honored to receive the funding from the Danish government for seven cooperation projects carried with universities of Denmark, in which there have been five projects with Aarhus University. Thanks to the kind support, there have been 10 CTU doctoral lecturers and 3 masters who were trained in Denmark, having significant contribution to the development of CTU; some they have been appointed in the leader positions of departments and colleges. In the framework of the cooperation between CTU and Aarhus University, CTU has 7 doctoral staff members and 60 masters trained in Vietnam. They have provided important contributions in training, scientific research and technology transfer of CTU. Besides, there have been 24 articles published in international scientific journals and 73 in Vietnamese journals.
In his speech at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, CTU Rector kindly expressed the deep appreciation and gratitude to the support and traditionally collaborative relationship between CTU and Aarhus University in recent years> also showed the strong belief that the two sides will continue the good and effective cooperation in the future. Representing Aarhus University, Mr. Thomas Nielsen also expressed deep confidence that CTU and Aarhus will bring up fruitful collaboration, promoting the training and research, providing positive contribution to the development of both sides. On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan and Mr. Thomas Nielsen kindly signed the MoU under the witnesses of the representatives of both universities.
This is the second signing of cooperation agreement between CTU and Aarhus, marking the milestone for the good cooperation and relationship between the two universities, opening the new stage for successful cooperation in the coming time. In this extended MoU, the two universities will continue to expand the cooperation in training, research and exchange of staff and students in the fields of agriculture, aquaculture and fisheries, environment (especially climate change) and other natural sciences.
At the ceremony, representatives of the cooperation units of CTU and Aarhus also signed the agreements of cooperation for the promotion of joint activities in the college and school level, including the fields of international cooperation, graduate study and aquatic sciences.
At present, the two universities are implementing the two collaborative projects on (i) research on producing biogas from agricultural wastes (2012-2016) and (ii) aquaculture with climate change (2013-2017).
